Everyone knows that oats are one of the best healthy breakfast options to go with. But sometimes, oats can get monotonous, which is why it’s very important to keep mixing things up to keep that oat-loving going.

We thought we should list a few healthy oatmeal dishes for you, to mix up your Mondays and make you twist on Tuesdays.

First Let’s Help You With the Basics

Good Ol’ fashioned Oats

1 cup water/milk (preferably low fat)

A pinch of alt

1/2 cup rolled oats

Bring 1 cup of water and the pinch of salt to a boil in a saucepan. Stir in the 1/2 cup of oats and keep the heat on medium. Cook for at least 5-10 minutes. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for about 5 minutes.

Your oats are ready. You can also try overnight oats if you’d like. Use the same ingredients, only just combine them in a jar and refrigerate through the night. This is one of the best and basic oats recipe for weight loss.

Now, for the Good Stuff

Carrot Cake Overnight Oatmeal

3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup yogurt

1/2 cup grated carrots

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp apple pie spice mix

1/4 cup natural sweetener

1 cup rolled oats

Mix up all the ingredients in a small bowl or jar. Refrigerate overnight, ensure that oats soften. Serve cold. Enjoy this as a dessert too!

Egg and Avocado Oats

1 cup rolled oats

2 tsps olive oil

1 egg

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 avocado

2 tbsps fresh salsa

Prepare the oats separately. Heat oil in a non-stick pan on medium heat. Add the egg and fry sunny side up. Serve the egg on top of the oatmeal with the avocado slices on top. Serve with the salsa on the side.

Bacon and Maple Syrup Oats

1 slice bacon

1 cup rolled/old fashioned oats

1 tbsp maple syrup

Prepare the oats separately. Cook the bacon in a pan on medium heat until crisp. Drizzle the maple syrup on the oats and serve with bacon while hot.

Oats Dosa

1/2 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup rice flour

Salt as per taste

2 small green chillies chopped

1/2 tsp cumin

2 tbsp onion chopped

1/2 tsp crushed ginger

1/4 cup curd

1 1/2 cups water

Oil as required

Add oats to a blender and make a fine powder. Transfer this to a mixing bowl. Add the salt, cumin and rice flour. Add onions, ginger, coriander and chillies. Add curd and water. Mix the ingredients together to make a smooth consistency batter. Grease your non-stick pan with oil, heat well and pour the batter slowly. Just pour the batter over the pan. Cook the dosa until done and flip occasionally. Serve with chutney of choice.
