Golden Milk for Flu-like Aches and Pains

Golden milk has been trending in the West lately. But the truth is turmeric milk benefits, or drinking haldi milk has been around for a long long time. Especially in India, turmeric has been a staple element of herbs for cold and cough.

Basic Golden Milk Recipe

Whip up this concoction for a delicious and simple golden milk recipe.

The first thing you’ll need is the paste, which you can later add to a milk of your choice. For the paste, you will need:

Here’s how to make it:

  • Add the turmeric and pepper to a pan of water and boil on medium heat.

  • Simmer for 7 minutes and stir continuously.

  • You’re looking for a paste-like consistency (add water if needed).

  • Let it cool and store in an airtight container.

  • Store in the fridge and your paste base should be good for up to 3 weeks. (Try and use right away is best.)

To make the milk

  • Simply add ½ tsp of the paste into a glass of milk of your choice.

  • We recommend almond milk or coconut milk, this is a favorite of some of our readers (Thanks Malin Loof).

  • Add some organic honey to taste if you need it sweetened, or cinnamon is another option if you are watching the calories.

Turmeric for Cold, Cough and Curing Fever

Now that you know how to get started with your paste, this is how turmeric works for the common cold and flu-like symptoms. Turmeric works on boosting one’s immunity. It reduces your risk to allergens and boosts vitality. For an added punch, add a tsp of coconut oil into the milk. This will help fortify the drink.

When using home remedies for common cold or any malady, it is really important to make sure you aren’t allergic to it. A very small amount of people can be allergic to turmeric so please make sure you’re in the clear first. Apart from that, enjoy the benefits of Golden Milk.
