Who doesn’t want to have silky smooth hair with luscious locks at the same time? It’s like a dream come true for most. Generally, with curly hair comes great dryness. Apart from that constant exposure to pollution and continuous chemical treatments like hair coloring can leave your hair dry, frizzy and damaged. We have a few natural and chemical-free remedies for dry hair which will leave your hair looking better than ever.

Natural Remedies for Dry Hair

These DIY home remedies are inexpensive and effective.

Avocado Damage Repair

It’s a pretty well-known fact that avocado can act as a natural hair conditioner and add incredible moisture to your hair. Take one ripe avocado and mash it until it becomes a pulp. Add an egg to the pulp and mix well until you get a creamy mixture. Avocados contain many essential vitamins and minerals which can help add luster and shine to your hair. Apply the mixture to your hair and leave on for about 20 minutes. Rinse off with cold water until the mix is completely washed off. Practice this once a week.

Olive Oil

Take ½ cup of warm olive oil and massage gently all through your scalp right to the end of your hair strands. Cover your hair with a plastic wrap. You can even use a plastic shower cap if you want. Leave on for an hour and then remove the plastic wrap and cleanse with a mild shampoo. Olive oil has amazing moisturizing properties and will give your hair a nice silky bounce.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Take 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and mix with 3 tablespoons of warm olive oil. Mix in 2 egg whites to the oil mixture and stir well. Massage this mixture gently into your hair. Take a soft towel and wrap the towel around your head, covering your hair. The warmth will allow it to absorb the goodness of the mask. Leave on for half an hour and then wash with a mild shampoo.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Dry Hair

Ayurveda suggests many natural remedies to treat dry and damaged hair. This includes the use of various essential oils.

Basil Leaves: Take a few basil leaves and pepper seeds in a small bowl. Add in ½ cup of hair oil (olive or coconut) and heat the contents until they come to a slight boil. Let the mix cool and then apply this to your hair. Leave on for an hour before you wash off. Use this once a week for strong and nourished hair.

Coconut Oil Hair Mask: Take half a glass of fenugreek seeds and soak them in water overnight. The next morning, remove the seeds from the water and grind them in a mixer till they become a paste. Mix this paste with 1 cup of pure organic coconut oil. Apply this mix gently on your scalp and all through your hair. Leave this on for 30 minutes before you wash it off. Regular application of this mask will promote healthy hair growth. It will also add moisture and texture to your hair.
