AllAyurveda is hosting a Holi contest to make your celebrations all the more cheerful and colorful. Let’s get you started on fun facts that signal spring is in. And of course, Holi songs to maaro your thumkas (we’re not judging if you take a shot of bhaang to get your hips swayin’).

Fun Fact #1: The word "Holi" comes from the Sanskrit term "Holika" which means "cereals (wheat, millet) roasted over fire."

Guess this song and dance to: Your velvet shirt has turned pink and what a mad, royal walk you’ve got!

Fun Fact #2: On the day of Holi, people perform “Parikrama” or going around a fire. The heat from the fire helps the body dissolves the accumulated Kapha (phlegm) from cold winter, thus preventing common springtime diseases.

Guess this song and dance to: Let a little cannabis get to you, let goof-ups happen, if something happens let them rot

Fun Fact #3: Traditional Holi colors were herbal! Neem and henna for green, turmeric for yellow, red sandalwood for red, jacaranda blossoms for blue, etc. They all reduce Kapha and help detoxify the skin.

Guess this song and dance to:

Throw red color on dupatta in Ayodhya, Raghuveera plays Holi

Fun Fact #4: Kama, the God of Love, is the presiding deity of this festival. This is why the weeks following Holi see a spate of marriages, being performed in Bihar.

Guess this song and dance to:

Damn this Holi, this Holi
The colors have words of love in them,
Damn this Holi, this Holi

Fun Fact #5: In the city of Mathura, people celebrate Latthmaar Holi where the women playfully hit the men with sticks.

Guess this song and dance to:

Colors are showering,

oh girl with drenched dupatta,
Colors are showering
