Working a desk job can really take a toll on your metabolism and cause some serious weight gain. It’s not necessary that you have to take the child out of you once you grow up and get a job. You can still enjoy the sports you loved as a kid. You’ll be surprised to learn how much your favorite childhood sports like swimming and soccer can do for your metabolic workout routine.

Exercises to Increase Metabolism Naturally

The sports we played as kids can be relived after a tiring day at work. They will leave you feeling fresh and destressed.

Swimming

Swimming is definitely considered one of the best exercises to boost metabolism and burn fat. A new swimming fitness routine called Swimfit is taking the fitness industry by storm. Swimfit is an intensive full body swim workout which can help you burn between 50-800 calories per session. The warm-up consists of swimming a few lengths continuously for about ten minutes. This is relaxed swimming. The next step is swimming with a float, focusing only on your lower body through kicking. You continue this for another ten minutes. The next step is to reverse the roles. Use a float to keep your legs steady and concentrate only on your arm movements. You practice this for another ten minutes. You can follow this up by a session of intensive sprinting for about five minutes after which you wind down and put your body to rest in the last two lengths. Swimming is a great overall workout for your body. It leaves you feeling relaxed, yet energized. It’s a great way to unwind after work.

Soccer (Football)

Football is undoubtedly one of the best cardio exercises that boost metabolism. Soccer helps you build more muscle mass and burn fat by putting slow-twitch and fast–twitch muscle fibers to work. Soccer can help you lose almost 300 calories in just a half an hour session. It requires you to constantly exert effort at various intensity levels. This makes it as good as some of the HIIT workouts out there. It provides and aerobic and anaerobic workout. Soccer helps you build on muscle mass by making you challenge your lower body including your glutes, hamstrings, quads and calves.
