Ayurveda for Hyperthyroidism

Ayurveda states that hyperthyroidism is caused by a digestive impairment leading to an imbalance in one’s Vata and Pitta doshas. To find out your own primary dosha type, check out our quiz here. The god news is that rebalancing these doshas can be done naturally.

A Hyperthyroidism Diet

Your diet should remain healthy as always, but here are a few things to do that have shown to help the disorder:

Increase dairy products and pure ghee. You can buy pure cow’s ghee here.

Eat fruits like bananas and melons, and dried fruits such as walnuts and dates. They work on reducing the agitation between the above-mentioned doshas.

Ashwagandha is not only for mental health. It has the ability to pacify the Vata and Pitta doshas while reducing hypertension and regulating the system. We recommend taking this supplement daily, as well as shatavari for hyperthyroidism which is also shown to assist in reducing metabolic imbalances. Especially when paired with Ashwagandha.

Yoga for Hyperthyroidism

Following pranayama and yoga itself can improve the agitated Pitta and Vata doshas. Read more about it here.
