According to Ayurveda, we use our teeth excessively throughout the course of our life. From talking to speaking to eating food all of these use our energy and teeth. No matter how well you take care of your teeth we are all prone to dental issues. When it comes to our teeth a buildup of acid in our Pitta dosha can cause our bones (in inclusive of our teeth) to become brittle and decay. These can lead to a variety of dental issues such as lackluster whitening, bad breath, bleeding gums or highly sensitive teeth.

Here are a few Ayurvedic remedies for general teeth issues.

When looking for a toothpaste for sensitive teeth Ayurveda recommends using a neem-based toothpaste as one of the top teeth cleaning tips. Not only does it work wonders for cleaning your teeth, but it also cleans your teeth, whitens them, gets rid of bad breath and removes harmful plaque fat. More so, it can help restore enamel in your teeth. Having good, strong enamel is directly responsible for how sensitive your teeth may be.

Get Rid of Bad Breath

Bad breath is caused by a disturbance of your Vata dosha leading directly to your digestion. Poor lifestyle habits such as smoking, and drinking in excess can lead to liver damage. This can also damage the lining in your gut leading to an excess of acid build up. Digestive issues can lead to gas formation and bloating which can further fall back up through the esophagus to one’s mouth. Here are a few natural remedies for bad breath.

Start with diet, simply put, when you eat right your stomach and mouth will reflect that. Make sure to brush regularly and rinse your mouth off too. If you’re stuck in a jam, try and get a hold of some mint and chow down, this can help provide a quick fix but it will not address the root of a bad diet (or other underlying illness).
