Some women may think exercising when pregnant may not be beneficial to their little baby bean. But the truth is, exercises such as yoga for pregnant women have shown to have tremendous benefits for both mom and baby.

When it comes to any form of exercise, Ayurveda believes that one shouldn’t overexert themselves but still exercise nonetheless.   2. Say no to any asanas which require you to lay on your back. It may reduce blood flow to the uterus.
  3. Also avoid asanas that may stretch your stomach muscles a lot. You are at a naturally higher risk for pulling your abdominals while pregnant.
  4. When you’re pregnant the mass you gain changes your center of gravity. You may find this sudden so we recommend using yoga blocks, support against a wall or the support of a chair.
  5. No Bikram Yoga for you. If you love your Bikram Hot Yoga, it’s time to give it a rest as the added strain and heat could endanger your baby. Not to mention a pool of your sweat adds for a slippery surface, and you will want to avoid a fall.

Additionally Avoid these Asanas While Pregnant:

  1. Balancing poses on one leg (unless supported by chair or wall)
  2. Backbends
  3. Camel Pose
  4. Any sort of stands, head or hand.
  5. Upward Bow Pose
