Know Your Ayurvedic Constitution
Essentially, Ayurveda is based on the principles of three doshas, also known as your Ayurvedic mind-body type. Doshas are the energies that power each individual.
This is the energy that controls bodily functions associated with motion. e.g.: breathing and blood circulation. Vata dosha is generally associated with the element of Air.
When in balance, Vata dosha promotes creativity and vitality. When out of balance, it can cause anxiety and fear.
This is the energy that controls the body’s metabolic systems like digestion and nutrient absorption. Pitta is associated with the element of Fire. It also controls the body’s temperature.
When in balance, Pitta dosha can induce intelligence and contentment. When out of balance, Pitta can cause excess heat which leads to ulcers and also anger.
This is the energy that controls growth in the body. It supplies moisture to all parts of the body and maintains the immune system. Kapha dosha is generally associated with the element of Earth.
When in balance, Kapha dosha can induce love, gentleness and calm. When out of balance, it generally leads to envy and insecurities.
Each person has all three doshas in them. However, there is generally one dosha out of the three which is most dominant. That is considered your body-mind dosha. Click here to find your dosha today!
